The Laboratory for Cell Therapy started its activities in 1979 and is now part of Sanquin. The laboratory is positioned within the Research division of Sanquin to benefit optimally from the scientific environment. All research within this division is related to the many aspects of blood and blood transfusion and the division employs around 300 scientists. The Laboratory serves both academic and non-academic hospitals and is actively involved in the development of new (stem) cell products for clinical trials.

In our new GMP facility we offer the infrastructure with multiple opportunities for translational research in the field of cellular therapies. We have extensive experience with the processing, cryopreservation and storage of hematopoietic stem cell products and are equipped to offer tailor-made solutions for the generation of cellular products for clinical trials.

The LCT has received a GMP license (NL/ H 14 1000028) on 3 March 2014. The Laboratory is certified according to ISO-9001, ISO-13485, ISO-14971 and JACIE standards and is acknowledged by the Dutch Ministry of Health with an 'orgaanbank erkenning' in accordance with the 'Wet Veiligheid en Kwaliteit Lichaamsmateriaal' and the EU guideline 2004/23/EC.
