Red blood cells

Red blood cells for antibody identification - Column screen 123

These red blood cells can be used for antibody detection in column agglutination systems. The principle of the test is the column agglutination technique, which is based on antigen/antibody reaction. The cells can be used in several column agglutination techniques like Ortho and Diamed to screen and/or identify sera for the presence of red cell antibodies.

The Column screen 123 consists of 10 ml vials. The Column panel 16 consists of 3 ml vials. The cells are suspended in a special preservation medium. All cell suspensions are derived from individual donors possessing blood group O. The red blood cell suspensions (0.8%) used in this screening panel have been selected so as to ensure optimal antigen distribution for the detection of clinically significant red cell antibodies.

A donor positive for Cw-antigen is always present. The fact that the donors used in this panel are often homozygous for the genes controlling the antigens present on their red cells renders screening panel 123 suitable for use in type and screen procedures.

Column Screen 123 always contains Bga-, Bgb- and Bgc negative donors.

Column panel 16 consists of 16 different cell suspensions (0.8%) derived from individual donors all with blood group O. The Column panel cells have been selected in a specific manner to ensure optimal antigen distribution for the identification of clinically significant red cell antibodies in 97% of the cases.

An extra advantage is the presence of a Kpa positive cell, a Lua positive cell, a RzR2 cell, a k negative cell and a Wra positive cell.
